About the Team
Our Enterprise Integration Services (EIS) Platform team is responsible for the backbone of Thrivents service infrastructure. We manage and automate the API gateway and event streaming platform ensuring high availability security and scalability for enterprise REST services.
We thrive on automation and believe in eliminating manual operations wherever possible-if youre someone who identifies as an automator of all things and destroyer of click-ops youll fit right in.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect build and enhance automation for Thrivents API and event-streaming platform
- Create maintain and extend infrastructure-as-code using Terraform on AWS
- Implement and maintain observability tooling with Datadog
- Develop automated test strategies to validate infrastructure and deployment pipelines
- Collaborate with developers and DevSecOps teams to embed secure practices into the platform
- Optimize performance and scalability of Kafka and API gateway components
- Contribute to incident response and platform reliability practices
Critical Skills & Technologies
To succeed in this role you should bring experience in the following areas:
- Platform Engineering & Automation
Strong background in platform design CI/CD pipelines and scripting for infrastructure automation - Test Automation
Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks in a DevOps or SRE environment - Cloud Infrastructure
Proficiency with AWS Terraform and infrastructure-as-code patterns - Messaging & Integration Platforms
Knowledge and experience with Kafka API gateways and event-driven architecture
Preferred Experience
- Working in a DevSecOps environment or implementing security practices into CI/CD workflows
- Building highly available scalable infrastructure solutions in the cloud
- Designing event-driven microservices and distributed systems
- Championing automation-first culture across engineering teams
