Robertson Blvd. Schedule/Shift: Monday-Friday 0830-1730 and 1 weekend per month Required: BLS from AHA or ARC Ophthalmic Assistant Certificate/Diploma or Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national certification through AAMA AMCA AMT CCBMA or MMCI. Experience with vision insurance and benefit plans 6 months of experience working in a vision center setting Preferred: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) VF IOL OCT and Optos experience ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ophthalmic Assistants/Medical assistants acting under the supervision of a physician or optometrist may: Fit prescription lenses; Prepare patients for examinations; Take patient history and other preliminary patient data; Perform simple non-invasive testing of visual acuity pupils and ocular motility; Perform automated visual field testing; Perform ophthalmic photography and digital imaging; Perform tonometry; Perform lensometry; Perform non-subjective auto refraction (where the ophthalmologist or optometrist performs subjective refraction); Administer cycloplegiacs mydriatics and topical anesthetics that are not controlled substances for ophthalmic purposes; and Perform pachymetry keratometry A scans B scans and electrodiagnostic testing. Environmental cleaning and disinfection of clinical areas. Assists in preparations for surgical and other clinical procedures including equipment sterilization. Gives instructions to patients concerning eye care and helps them understand and comply with treatments that the doctor prescribes.
