Job Description
Senior Cloud Database Engineer (Hybrid Reading PA No Remote)
Open to Contract Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Database Engineer to design build and optimize resilient enterprise data platforms across on-premises and hybrid multi-cloud environments. This is a hands-on individual contributor role that requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high-performance scalable and cost-optimized platforms while leveraging modern database and cloud technologies.
Mandatory Skills

Bachelors degree in IT or related field.

10 years progressive experience in database engineering.

5 years expertise with PostgreSQL Redis/Memory DB DynamoDB Aurora/RDS MySQL Snowflake MongoDB.
-
Strong background in cloud databases & services (AWS Azure OCP OIC MongoDB Atlas).
-
3 years designing solutions in hybrid cloud environments.
-
Advanced SQL scripting (PowerShell Unix shell; Python/JSON a plus).

Proficiency with SQL tools (TOAD SQL Developer PGADMIN DPA snowsql MongoDB Compass etc.).

Solid knowledge of database security backup/recovery performance monitoring.

Experience with database migrations (cloud on-premises homogeneous & heterogeneous).

Schema design relational/dimensional modeling and IaC tools (Terraform Ansible CloudFormation).
-
AWS/Azure certifications highly preferred.
-
Excellent communication collaboration and mentoring skills.
Key Responsibilities

Lead database migrations and modernization projects from on-prem to cloud.

Architect engineer and optimize data platforms in multi-cloud hybrid environments.

Implement automation for provisioning patching monitoring and maintenance.

Ensure database reliability scalability and security through best practices and governance.
-
Support high-priority incidents as a Level 3 escalation resource.

Provide mentorship to onsite/offshore teams on cloud database technologies.
-
Drive technology roadmaps align with enterprise architecture and evaluate emerging technologies.

Design and test backup recovery and disaster recovery plans.

Implement observability and monitoring (Prometheus Grafana CloudWatch LogicMonitor).
