Job Description
Position Description:
Valparaiso University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Track and Field Coachspecializing in Sprints and Hurdles. This position is responsible for the development andcoaching of student-athletes in sprint and hurdle events recruiting prospective student-athletesand supporting the overall goals of the Track and Field program. The successful candidate willdemonstrate a strong commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes as well as to fostering a positive team culture.
Major Responsibilities:
- Design and implement training programs for 60m up to potentially 800m and hurdle events.
- Provide technical and tactical instruction during practices and competitions.
- Assist with team travel meet planning and event management.
- Identify and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with the universitys values and academic standards.
- Monitor academic performance and provide guidance to ensure student-athlete success.
- Assist with administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Track and Field.
- Maintain compliance with NCAA conference and institutional regulations.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Valparaiso UniversityBachelors degree required.
- Prior coaching experience at the collegiate high school or club level in sprints and/orhurdles.
- Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to diversity equity and inclusion.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Other Qualifications:
- Preferred - Masters degree
- Experience coaching at the NCAA Division I level
