Job Description Summary

This role is for a Fuel Systems Hardware Module integration leader supporting the GEnx engine program. The Fuel Systems Module Integration Leader will report directly to the GEnx Commercial Engineering Systems Engineering sub-section manager.

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach mindset and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design creation and optimization of systems consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements creation of alternate system design concepts performance of design trade studies selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

The Systems Module Leader will be responsible for setting engineering priorities and direction for the GEnx fluid systems hardware. This role requires leadership of internal and external engineering teams to ensure GEnx program objectives customer needs and systems engineering leadership directives are met. The role has moderate autonomy requiring high levels of operational judgment. This includes providing technical direction and project leadership to deliver on all safety quality delivery and cost objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manages product and systems requirements specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system including system level testing.
  • Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners engineering teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
  • Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system. Supports certification plan definition and execution as required.
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management manufacturing technology or engineering. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
  • Utilize Flight Deck principals and tools to solve problems and optimize execution of assigned tasks. Fosters an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Support and/or lead root cause investigations of hardware returned from the field or for production hardware delivery issues. Deliver findings with corrective action recommendations for the business and customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 8 years of applicable engineering experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this job opening.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore for applicants who are not U.S. lawful permanent residents U.S. Citizens or have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e. not a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) otherwise known as a U.S. Person) employment will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
