The Arizona Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for a Animal Health Inspector for our Animal Services Division. The inspector will be responsible for inspection at Marana Livestock Auction.
The Animal Services Division protects the public from contagious and infectious disease in livestock poultry commercially raised fish meat milk and eggs. We do this by enforcing laws concerning the movement sale importation transport slaughter and theft of addition we regulate food processing and manufacturing facilities and conduct substantial food safety and quality inspections of Dairy Meat and Egg products produced or stored in Arizona.
Duties to include but not limited to:
Monitor the health and proper identification of animals moving during shipping season
Monitor compliance with Beef Council fee
Handle money and make weekly deposits
Prepare and appropriately submit activity reports departmental case reports time sheets travel claims and any other related reports in accordance with department regulations
Work the Marana Livestock Auction
Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Federal/State laws rules regulations policies procedures and practices regarding livestock
Basic animal nutrition husbandry and health
Report writing

Drive truck towing trailer
Handle livestock safely
Think analytically and solve routine problems

Submit required paperwork in a timely manner

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Mandatory condition of Employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria defined in statue. Current contribution rate is 12.00%. Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
