Job Description
Position Description:
Valparaiso University invites applications for an Assistant Track and Field Coach specializing inthe Multi-Events. This coach will be responsible for the development of athletes competing indecathlon heptathlon and open event specialties. The role includes practice planning technicalinstruction recruiting and assisting with meet operations. The ideal candidate is committed tobuilding a competitive supportive and academically-focused team environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage training plans across all ten (men) or seven (women) multi-eventdisciplines.
- Provide individualized technical instruction in events such as jumps throws hurdles andsprints.
- Assist with team operations meet planning and logistics.
- Recruit qualified student-athletes who can succeed both athletically and academically.
- Promote academic achievement and personal growth among student-athletes.
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with NCAA and institutional policies.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelors degree required.
- Coaching or competitive experience in multi-events.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other event coaches.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Other Qualifications:
- Masters degree
- Previous collegiate coaching experience
- Experience coaching horizontal jumps pole vault and/or throws.
