POSITION SUMMARY
This position is in the Biotherapeutics Pharmaceutical Research and Development Devices Centre of Excellence located in Cambridge UK. The incumbent will provide technical logistical and operational support to the team through the provision of fully functional compliant equipment and inventory services according to established procedures and processes. This will also include materials management in support of projects and supporting technical agreements. The role will provide day to day support of operational EHS requirements to maintain a safe working and progressive environment for colleagues. The role will require effective coordination and liaison with internal and external partners communicating at all levels.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for providing technical and administrative support for the day to day functionality of DCoE operations including laboratory space and equipment contained therein. Inclusive of routine monitoring for cleanliness housekeeping and safety standards.
- Responsible for ensuring equipment is compliant to processes procedures and applicable standards (to include providing training)
- To coordinate maintenance and calibration of equipment by close liaison with System Owners Global Workplace Solutions and vendors
- Identify scope create and execute technical agreements with Parties external to DCoE for the effective production and transfer of materials
- Understand and manage the potential cost and schedule impact of material import and export
- Responsible for performing agreed and assigned EHS roles (eg First Aid Incident Controller etc) delegating where appropriate. Responsible and active member of local EHS teams
- Support (taking lead where appropriate) in the implementation of BTxPS EHS and related initiatives (eg 5S MGL audits)
- To support risk assessments quality near miss and change control processes
- To manage the local inventory management / stock system
- To support continuous improvement activities across DCoE for both product and processes
- Take ownership of given assignments proactively consulting other project team members and department representatives for information or guidance as necessary.
- To support external audits as appropriate (eg ISO 13485)

EDUCATION SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A levels or equivalent in science or engineering subjects. Degree HND or equivalent beneficial
- Experience of operations and quality management of laboratory spaces in a regulated environment
- Experience of working to ISO13485 quality management system preferred
- Experience with electronic Laboratory Notebook (eLN) systems
- Experience in understanding and applying UK legislative health and safety standards to the workplace
- Able to demonstrate practical analytical and pragmatic approach to work
- Able to interpret the functionality of equipment.
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external team members in an appropriate oral and/or written format
- Able to articulate ideas and concepts clearly to all levels and technical abilities
- Able to learn and apply established procedures in a reliable and consistent manner
- Capable of both working in a team and independently
- Excellent standard of written and spoken English and numeracy
- Familiar with the principles of risk management
- Ability to plan organise and prioritise own work with minimal supervision
- Ability to lead problem solving and corrective / preventative activities
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of laboratory scale equipment
- Knowledge of calibration methods and standards
- Knowledge of stock systems and inventory management
- Knowledge of UK EH&S applicable standards preferred
- Knowledge of using risk assessment tools
- Knowledge of root cause investigation tools

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform equipment and inventory related activities such as lifting and manual handling
- Must be flexible in working hours (occasional weekend working / support for unplanned events)
