Buyer Abingdon Oxfordshire
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join a dynamic and growing business based in Abingdon Oxfordshire. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is eager to contribute to the success of an established purchasing team.
The successful Buyer in Abingdon Oxfordshire will be responsible for the cost-effective procurement of materials goods and services ensuring that all purchasing activities support the wider business requirements. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager the role offers the chance to make a significant impact on supplier performance cost savings and supply chain efficiency.
Key responsibilities for the Buyer in Abingdon Oxfordshire include:
Sourcing and placing orders for both contract and non-contract items using MRP reports and requisitions.
Negotiating to secure the best possible pricing.
Maintaining and updating supplier information within the MRP system.
Monitoring supplier performance and implementing improvement programmes.
Ensuring materials and components are available on time and at optimum stock levels.
Liaising with Production Control to progress outstanding purchase orders.
Supporting Stores and Production Control teams when required.
To be successful the Buyer in Abingdon Oxfordshire will ideally have:
A purchasing qualification such as CIPS (desirable but not essential).
At least 3 years experience with MRP/ERP/SAP or similar systems.
A strong track record in supplier management and negotiations.
Experience within a manufacturing environment ideally marine-related.
Competency with MS Office particularly Excel Word and Outlook.
Excellent communication problem-solving and assertiveness skills.
The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
