Summary:
A world-renowned marina is seeking an experienced Lead Alignment Technician to join their team. The position is primarily responsible for manage and perform the precise alignment of essential marine systems. This hands-on leadership role involves supervising a small team of technicians while acting as the lead operator for advanced optical and laser alignment tools.
Responsibilities:
* Carry out high-precision optical and laser alignment procedures for marine propulsion systems shaft bearings engines gearboxes rudders and other critical components.
* Operate and maintain specialized alignment tools including optical telescopes reticles and target systems.
* Utilize hull-mounted targets alignment fixtures and optical instruments to verify and fine-tune machinery positioning.
* Analyze technical drawings alignment criteria and CAD schematics to determine alignment requirements.
* Perform detailed measurements calculations and data analysis of vessel structures and components to support accurate alignment.
* Record alignment metrics prepare comprehensive documentation and reports and share results with internal teams and vessel crews as needed.
* Work closely with project planning and trade departments to coordinate alignment activities for refits system corrections and repairs.
* Supervise and guide a small team of 2-3 technicians while actively participating in alignment tasks.
* Be available to support extended hours and overtime during high-demand project phases.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent is required.
* Valid Drivers License and Clean Driving Record is required.
* Associates degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
* 5 years of experience in optical/laser alignment with marine or heavy industrial machinery.
* Skilled in operating alignment equipment and interpreting technical engineering documents.
* Solid mathematical ability including competence in algebra and trigonometry.
* Experienced with precision measurement tools such as micrometers (inside and outside) calipers dial indicators and bore gauges.
* Knowledgeable about marine propulsion systems mechanical engineering concepts and classification society standards.
* Background as an Outside Machinist or familiarity with machining techniques is advantageous.
* Flexible and willing to travel within the country as required by project needs.
