Job Description

Position Summary

The Commercial Truck Driving Lab Assistant has the responsibility for supporting instruction in the area to which he or she is assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Substituting in case of departmental instructor absence.
Assisting assigned departmental instructors and students in laboratory exercises and hands-on training techniques.
Supervising and assisting assigned students on any appointed projects and repairs and ensuring safe conduct while students are performing said tasks.
Responsibility for the general maintenance of assigned laboratory trainers and equipment.
Distribute truck driving application packets including recruitment materials and program information.
Recruit truck driving students. Coordinate commercial truck driving program promotions via local advertising.
Distribute program material to prospective truck driving students.
Assist prospective truck driving students with completing the application packet.
Coordinate with WIOA/Adult Ed Truck Driving Career Pathways Programs.
Correspond with Career Centers regarding WIOA financial assistance for commercial truck driving students.
Set up commercial truck driving courses for registration before each new term.
Register commercial truck driving students and maintain admission records: grading filing copying and other clerical duties.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent GED certificate required.
Three (3) years of documented full-time CDL over-the-road driving experience required.
It is required to hold and maintain a current Class A CDL license.
Three (3) years of driver training experience preferred.
Must know State and Federal CDL rules and regulations.
Must be able to maneuver tractor/trailer under challenging situations. Ability to work well with others and able to work under pressure.
