The Position
GENERAL SUMMARY: Were seeking a passionate community-focused health professional to join our team as a part time Public Health Professional. This role focuses on preventing youth use of tobacco and cannabis products and supporting broader child and adolescent health initiatives. Youll apply behavioral science principles to develop impactful health programs influence policy and system-level changes and empower communities toward healthier outcomes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with community groups and lead public education efforts to influence knowledge attitudes and behaviors around health topics.
- Develop and support policies systems and environmental strategies that make healthy choices easier and more accessible.
- Engage with policymakers stakeholders and the public to promote evidence-based practices for youth substance use prevention-particularly tobacco and cannabis.
- Facilitate and participate in coalitions task forces and community initiatives.
- Evaluate health education materials and programming for effectiveness.
- Support program planning data analysis reporting and budget preparation.
- Build strong partnerships with schools healthcare providers public agencies and local organizations.
- Assist in preparing public communication including news releases website content and social media messaging.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of public health theory behavioral science and health education principles.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills tailored to diverse audiences.
- Ability to evaluate program outcomes and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Comfortable working with diverse populations and building collaborative relationships.
The Requirements & Selection Process
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Public Health Community Health or closely related field and 3 years of experience in health education or program coordination OR Masters degree in a related field with at least 1 year of experience preferred. CHES certification preferred but not required.
