ively define and implement a dynamic vision for educational equity deepen community partnerships and strengthen AFEs strategic and operational excellence.

Leadership & Strategic Vision
- Lead collaboratively with the Alliance Board Executive Leadership Team and community partners advancing AFEs mission.
- Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture internally and externally.
- Build strategic alignment and catalyze collective action to support SPS students.
- Governance & Board Relations
- Work closely with the Board of Directors enhancing board engagement and strategic governance.
- Expand board membership strategically ensuring the board is effectively prepared to support and advocate for AFEs mission.
Management & Operational Excellence
- Provide guidance and accountability with direct reports ensuring effective team management and operational outcomes.
- Oversee the successful execution of organizational strategy annual work plans budgets and ensure general organizational health.
- Committed to operational efficiency continuous process improvement and strong cross-functional collaboration; prioritizes strategic partnerships especially with HR and Finance to elevate organizational effectiveness.
School & District Partnerships
- Maintain a productive collaborative partnership with SPS leadership including the Superintendent and School Board Executive Cabinet principals and educators.
- Establish clear shared goals expectations and priorities to strengthen trust and mutual support.
Community & External Relations
- Engage actively with educators non-profit and civic leaders and corporate/philanthropic communities and oversee engagement with other community stakeholders including students and families.
- Build initiative-taking trust-based relationships that enhance community engagement and advocacy for SPS students.
Strategic Planning & Impact
- Lead refinement and implementation of AFEs strategic plan.
- Regularly assess and report progress adjusting plans as needed to meet evolving community and educational needs.
- Ensure programmatic strategies remain aligned with the AFE mission leveraging partnerships with institutions such as the University of Washington Seattle Colleges and City of Seattle Department of Education and Early Learning.
Fundraising & Financial Stewardship
- Work closely with the Advancement and Finance teams to meet ambitious fundraising targets and maintain fiscal integrity.
- Cultivate donor relationships and expand funding from diverse philanthropic sources.
- Oversee financial planning and strategic investments to ensure organizational sustainability and growth
Communications & Advocacy
- Function as primary spokesperson for AFE ensuring clear effective communication internally and externally with the communities they serve.
- Advance strategic goals through compelling storytelling public speaking media engagement and targeted messaging.
Heres what youll need to be successful in this role:
Executive & Organizational Leadership
- Substantial relevant leadership experience with demonstrated increasing responsibilities (preferably in nonprofit NGO or mission-driven organizations).
- At least 5 years at executive/senior leadership level demonstrating successful team and organizational management.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- High emotional intelligence and political acumen including conflict-resolution skills to navigate complex internal and external challenges.
- Visionary pragmatic leader who prioritizes results accountability and organizational health.
Strategic & Operational Expertise
- Proven strategic planning and execution experience including system change and development.
- Skilled in decision-making governance and managing complex organizational systems.
- Experience managing budgets with demonstrated financial acumen in budgeting forecasting audits and funding diversification.
Fundraising & External Relations
- Comprehensive experience with major gifts donor cultivation grants management and/or capital campaigns.
- Strong public speaking storytelling media engagement and communication skills.

Pay Range:
This is a full-time exempt role based in Seattle WA. AFE offers competitive compensation a hybrid workplace with flexibility and generous benefits. Our hiring range is $196241-$269832 Annually Discretionary Annual Bonus Potential of up to $25000 based on achieving Board determined milestones.
