The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design and development of mechanical solutions that enhance and optimize AFLs manufacturing equipment. This engineer will utilize their wide knowledge of mechanical engineering to apply engineering principles theories and concepts with the design of machine solutions that improve safety performance reliability and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Create and develop mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks CAD applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Support manufacturing by retrieving interpreting and updating legacy engineering drawings.
- Design and evaluate concepts based on performance cost and reliability making decisions grounded in sound engineering principles.
- Work independently to plan process and complete assignments efficiently.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop functional specifications and translate operational requirements into practical design solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and exceed customer expectations.
- Provide accurate cost estimates schedules task development and project leadership when required.
- Serve as a Mechanical Engineering technical resource and mentor within the engineering team.
- Adhere to and promote AFLs environmental health and safety policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10 years relative work experience in mechanical design and engineering fundamentals.
- Expert level with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Knowledge of materials manufacturing processes and mechanical systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in collaborative team environments.
