Commercial Construction Quality Control (QC) Inspector – Structural, Welding, Interior Building Finishes, Rebar & Concrete – Brownsville, TX

Burrow Global is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Control Inspector to join our Brownsville-based construction project team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in commercial construction inspection. Candidates will have experience across structural steel welding interior building finishes rebar and concrete with a proven track record in ensuring workmanship compliance with project specifications codes and safety standards. This role is pivotal in maintaining high-quality standards and facilitating successful project delivery.

Candidates Note: Per diem is available for interested candidates living more than 50 miles from Brownsville TX.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop implement and enforce project QC plans procedures and checklists aligned with drawings specifications and applicable codes (AISC AWS ACI AASHTO etc.).

- Conduct daily site inspections of structural steel welding interior wall framing wall and ceiling covers MEPF rough ins rebar placement formwork concrete pours curing and related activities.

- Review material certifications welding procedure specifications (WPS) approved welding operators mix designs and other QC documentation.

- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) coordination witness testing and ensure corrective actions are completed for any deficiencies.

- Maintain non-conformance reports (NCRs) repair methods and disposition decisions with clear documentation and timely closure.

- Collaborate with project superintendents engineers and subcontractors to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.

- Ensure compliance with safety practices and site-specific QA/QC requirements; participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.

- Verify as-built records test reports (concrete cylinders compressive strength tests welding coupons) and punch lists.

- Assist in the development and execution of inspection and test plans (ITPs) and QC kickoff activities.

- Maintain organized QC documentation and prepare weekly quality reports for management and clients.

- Support commissioning and closeout activities ensuring all QC deliverables are complete.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years of hands-on QC experience on heavy civil/structures construction projects with exposure to structural steel welding rebar and concrete.

- Certifications:

- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent (preferred)

- ACI certification for concrete field testing or equivalent (e.g. ACI Level 1/2)

- ICC/ACI/NCCER or equivalent recognized QC certifications (preferred)

- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (preferred)

- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards: AWS D1.1/D1.5 ACI 301 AISC AASHTO LRFD ASTM standards and concrete testing procedures.

- Experience with welding inspection WPS/PQR review welding operator qualification and weld defect evaluation.

- Proficiency in concrete testing procedures (slump air unit weight cylinder tests) and rebar inspection (size spacing cover corrosion protection).

- Familiarity with QA/QC software spreadsheet analysis and document control systems.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear reports and coordinate with diverse teams.

- Strong attention to detail problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to quality and safety.

- Ability to read and interpret civil/structural drawings shop drawings and specifications.

- Willingness to travel to and work in Brownsville TX
