1 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or recent graduate from trade school program
Ability to troubleshoot diesel engines with diagnostic tools (provided by Wabtec) such as hydraulic pressure gauges electrical testers diese diagnostic software
high school diploma
basic understanding of electrical schematics and blueprints
must wear PPE

Day to Day:
Morning Briefing & Work Orders
Review daily assignments and service tickets.
Coordinate with supervisors or engineers on custom builds or repairs.
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
Use diagnostic tools to assess diesel engines hydraulic systems and electrical components.
Identify issues with tractive effort systems braking or ShuttleLaunch technology (used in their Commander NXT models 1).
Mechanical Repairs & Maintenance
Perform engine repairs fluid changes and component replacements.
Maintain and repair hydraulic lifts couplers and rubber tire systems used for rail traction.
Assembly & Customization
Assemble new Shuttlewagon units including installing diesel engines control systems and rail gear.
Customize units for clients with specific towing capacities (up to 6000 tons in Navigator models 1).
Testing & Quality Control
Conduct operational tests on completed units.
Road test or rail test units to ensure safety and performance standards are met.
Documentation & Reporting
Log repairs parts used and time spent on each task.
Communicate with parts departments and update service records.
Safety & Compliance
Follow OSHA and company-specific safety protocols.
Handle hazardous materials (fluids batteries) according to regulations.
