Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Social Work Assistant on a 3-month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 15.10 - 19.92 per hour

Summary:

Cardiff Childrens Services are seeking several Social Work Assistants to support our Fostering and Kinship teams working alongside experienced Social Workers the Principal Social Worker (PSW) and Team Managers. You will assist with the delivery of high-quality services for children young people and their families taking responsibility for a small caseload where required. The role will involve direct work with children carers and partner agencies to ensure effective support safeguarding and placement stability.

Applicants with relevant qualifications or experience in youth work speech and language occupational therapy counselling or delivering CBT/DBT skills will be considered for a premium hourly rate.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Social Workers in case management including maintaining a small caseload where necessary.
  • Support the assessment supervision and review of fostering and kinship placements.
  • Arrange monitor and review services in line with individual care and support plans.
  • Provide practical help advice and emotional support to children families and carers.
  • Liaise effectively with other professionals agencies and voluntary organisations.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Experience of working directly with children young people or vulnerable families.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and relevant social care procedures.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with multi-agency teams.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to equality diversity and anti-discriminatory practice.

  • Full valid UK driving licence and sole access to a vehicle during working hours.

  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training.

  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
