Reporting to the Supervisor of Communications and Engagement the Temporary Senior Corporate Graphic Designer is responsible for providing corporate creative design services to increase awareness of programs services and initiatives offered by the Town for a period of 6-months.Job Duties Include
Key Duties
Meets with staff to discuss requirements including advising on design strategies to reach a particular audience and develops design briefs based on project budget.
Creates visual concepts graphics logos identifiers illustrations and artwork for design projects.
Designs professional quality promotional and marketing material such as brochures posters flyers info graphics newsletters signage give-a-ways and invitations.
Works in collaboration with online services to create innovative web graphics and multimedia such as websites banners pop-ups videos and animations and provides advice and direction on look image and identity of corporate website.
Manages Graphic Design Calendar including scheduling and notifications.
Maintains an inventory of design projects and supporting materials for future reference.
Maintains a Corporate Photo Library and supporting policies to manage photography usage and requirements.
Manages PhotoShelter (Online Corporate Photo Inventory) for both internal and external clients. Provides approval on all official Town of Ajax photo requests.

Qualifications/Skills
Minimum of three (3) years experience in creative services and graphic design. Preferably in agency sector.
Certified Registered Graphic Designer through the Association of RGD.
Minimum three years of graphic design experience in relevant government private sector consulting or agency work.
Extensive experience in computerized graphic design including working with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign Illustrator & Photoshop) and Adobe Professional.
Two years of experience with web design and development and knowledge of current web software interfaces and platforms (HTML CSS Wordpress and FTP).
Working knowledge of video production and editing software.
Two years of experience in marketing research copy writing and brand management.
Solid typography skills and experience.
Advanced experience in working with photographs including taking well-composed photos software scanning image manipulation and colour correction.
Advanced knowledge of printing processes and preparing and delivering press ready files.
Extensive knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act graphic design standards (colours PDFs and type size).
What is Offered to Staff
Rate of Pay: $46.28 - $57.86 per hour
Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works 35 hours per week. The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Hybrid Work Program: The Town offers a Hybrid Work Program. A flexible work arrangement including the option to work from home some or a majority of the time is currently a possibility with this position and can be discussed during the interview process.
