Job Title: Accounting Assistant
Location: Nutrition Services
Pay Grade: Clerical Salary Grade C12
Work Calendar: All 12 Month Staff
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Nutrition Services the Accounting
Assistant assists with the preparation and maintenance of fiscal records and related
documents.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain financial records
- Ensure purchase orders are issued submitted and sent for payment
- Reconcile credit card purchases and vendor statements
- Provide data entry for monthly and year-to-date profits and loss reports
- Provide information and documents requested by auditors
- Assist with the receipting of vendor invoices weekly
- Receive organize and reconcile bank deposit slips against monthly bank statement
- Make bank deposit as needed
- Process departmental requests for mileage reimbursement
Provide general support for banking related issues
- Participate in annual budget preparation process
- Assist with the appropriation of community donations towards student negative debt
- Serve as the liaison with the district finance department

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma G.E.D. or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by courses in bookkeeping or accounting
- Previous experience and/or training which would provide the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform various accounting procedures and related clerical functions is required
- Demonstrated computer skills and experience as related to the position and in particular Microsoft Office (Word Excel etc) Google Suite and various computer-based accounting systems

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work environment is primarily inside with moderate noise and temperatures that are controlled no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
- The work is light work requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
