Job Description
Being on the HPHS Math Team is an experience that brings the beautiful diversity of HPHS together for all who enjoy math! Math Team sponsors lead with excellence equity and cultural responsiveness at the center. Sponsors intentionally create and cultivate a strong sense of belonging for all students.
The HPHS Math team provides an opportunity for those who enjoy math to explore non-traditional math problems and compete against other schools in individual and team competitions. Math Team coaches work with the student board to organize practices and coach students on topics that prepare them for the six math meets and state competitions. Students practice once or twice a week.
Duties for the three coaches include:
- Organizing weekly practices
- Preparing practice materials and lessons for students
- Submitting competition rosters
- Coordinating buses
- Supervising travel attending judging and proctoring tests at various meets.
- Occasionally Math Team Coaches are responsible for organizing a math meet hosted at HPHS.
