COMPENSATION: $23.55 - $25.36 Hr. Pay Rate
The Cooperative Agricultural Support Services (CASS) is a Joint Powers Authority established as a partnership between the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and the Counties of Yolo and Trinity. Over time CASS has significantly expanded its reach across California delivering essential support to the agricultural industry and its consumers.
CASS specializes in providing comprehensive human resources and administrative support services to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of agricultural programs. Its diverse program activities include agricultural inspections pest prevention and other critical initiatives administered by CDFA county agricultural commissioners and various public agencies.
By fostering collaboration and leveraging expertise CASS continues to play a vital role in supporting Californias agricultural industry and safeguarding the quality and safety of its products.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Verification Auditor Trainee to join our Inspection and Compliance Department. This position reports directly to the Program Supervisor.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under direction as well as operating within established guidelines and procedures the incumbent in this position works with Shipping Point staff to support Shipping Point Inspection/Food Safety programs. The incumbent in this position must have a high degree of integrity communication skills gathering and analysis of information and good decision making. The incumbent will be required to attain any required certifications/licensing within first year of employment. The incumbent must also possess strong organizations skills as well as excellent verbal and written communications. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with industry; work well under pressure; and work cooperatively with other staff members in completing designated work while meeting required deadlines. Must have normal color vision. Must have a valid California Drivers License and an acceptable driving record. Continuous travel and overnight stays are required. No minimum hours are guaranteed for this position. Work hours will vary based on business needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Audit grower and handler records to ensure compliance with an approved plan.
Complete audit checklist and note to pertinent observations.
Communicate with handler or grower representatives throughout the audit process.
Prepare fieldnotes inspector daily reports and other related paperwork as required.
Ensure accurate documents are forwarded in a timely manner for processing
Ability to utilize tablet operation auditing and productivity software.
Maintain records of audit training and guidance materials.
Stay abreast of Food Safety changes trends laws and regulations.
Attendance punctuality and dependability are essential to this position.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
4-year degree in Agriculture Biology Chemistry or any science related field or;
3 or more years of agricultural background preferred
Must be able to read write and communicate in English
Bilingual preferred but not required
Ability to adapt to a flexible work environment this position requires extensive travel
Self-Starter and proactive
Excellent Oral and Written Communication skills
Excellent Time Management and Organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle conflict in a tactful and professional manner
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assumes responsibility for doing assigned work and meeting deadlines.

Attends work regularly and adheres to policies and procedures regarding absences and tardiness. Provides adequate notice to supervisor with respect to time-off requests.
Maintain presentable office environment including organizing office supplies kitchen neatness and office space.
Performs other duties as necessary.

Non-Exempt
$23.55 $25.36 Hr. Pay Rate depending on qualifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent in this position will be required with or without reasonable accommodation to operate a desktop computer using a keyboard and mouse; employ repetitive arm and wrist motions; occasionally bend stoop twist reach; and lift file or supply boxes of up to twenty pounds.
