Job Summary: The Auraria Campus Stagehand position supports the daily operations and technical production of performance venues at the King Center. With a focus on live audio digital sound systems and console programming the role leads a team of student employees and collaborates with the Director to provide staging rigging and instrument support for campus and external performances. Responsibilities also include assisting with evening and weekend events maintaining theatrical equipment and coordinating student staff scheduling. Essential Job Functions: - Supervise and perform Setup For Performances:
- Set up and wire audio systems including speaker placement system tuning and signal flow verification
- Hang focus and patch lighting instruments according to event specifications
- Configure and assemble stage risers to meet performance needs
- Install soft goods (curtains drops) and hard set pieces safely and efficiently
- Set up musical instruments and related equipment as needed for rehearsals and performances
- Provide administrative support for events
- Assist with Execution of Performances:
- Responsible for technical aspects of performances and productions
- Work with staff to develop a schedule for staff coverage of performances and events including evenings and weekends
- Responsible for the safe execution of the program and for making decisions that directly impact the safety of cast and audience members
- Assist with scheduling and management of equipment used to support events
- Management and maintenance of event space reservations
- Theatrical Rigging and Equipment Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning scheduling and performing of regular maintenance and repair of the theatrical systems and equipment in the facility
- Assist in the periodic inspection of performance rigging systems
- Responsible for keeping assigned systems in working order for all performances and productions
- Assist in the Scheduling of Student Staff:
- Responsible for meeting with departmental staff to determine the need for additional support for performances and productions
- Responsible for keeping the student staff schedule up to date
- Assist with communicating schedules to student staff and performing data entry within scheduling software and systems
- Supervise and perform Setup For Performances:
Minimum Qualifications Substitutions Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Minimum Qualifications: - A degree in Theatre Stage Technology Audio Technology or Lighting Technology.
- OR a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in one or more of these fields.
Conditions of Employment: - Ability to work evenings and weekends frequency dependent on venue scheduling and department operational needs
- Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Use of both small and large motor functions in daily tasks
- Physical ability to:
- Operate a small chain motor
- Operate an Aerial Work Platform (AWP)
- Load fly rail with stage weights
- Perform work from overhead catwalks
- Use of personal safety equipment including and not limited to:
- Fall arrest harness
- Hard hat
- Eye and ear protection
Preferred Qualifications: - Extensive or specialized experience with live audio systems.
- Familiarity with Allen and Heath and other Digital consoles.
- Experience with theatrical systems.
- Experience with musical performances.
- Familiarity with the existence and implementation of safety standards in the entertainment industry.
- Experience and proficiency using EMS event scheduling software.

- Ability to communicate effectively and work well under pressure specifically during the execution of a live performance
- Ability tothink on their feet and solve problems quickly and effectively
- Skilled in effectively handling challenging personalities in a performance environment.
- Has strong attention to detail
- Contributes as part of a team and takes initiative to lead others on projects and tasks when needed
- Maintains a flexible schedule of availability including working nights and weekends as needed to support events and performances within the facility
- In-depth knowledge of technical theatre and its related fields including stage management
- Knowledge of lighting systems rigging systems public address and other audio systems
- General computer proficiency and literacy
