Description of Job

Job Summary:The Auraria Campus Stagehand position supports the daily operations and technical production of performance venues at the King Center. With a focus on live audio digital sound systems and console programming the role leads a team of student employees and collaborates with the Director to provide staging rigging and instrument support for campus and external performances. Responsibilities also include assisting with evening and weekend events maintaining theatrical equipment and coordinating student staff scheduling.Essential Job Functions:

Minimum Qualifications:

Conditions of Employment:
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends frequency dependent on venue scheduling and department operational needs
  • Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Use of both small and large motor functions in daily tasks
  • Physical ability to:
    • Operate a small chain motor
    • Operate an Aerial Work Platform (AWP)
    • Load fly rail with stage weights
    • Perform work from overhead catwalks
  • Use of personal safety equipment including and not limited to:
    • Fall arrest harness
    • Hard hat
    • Eye and ear protection
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive or specialized experience with live audio systems.
  • Familiarity with Allen and Heath and other Digital consoles.
  • Experience with theatrical systems.
  • Experience with musical performances.
  • Familiarity with the existence and implementation of safety standards in the entertainment industry.
  • Experience and proficiency using EMS event scheduling software.
Attributes and Abilities:
  • Possesses the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple demands and competing deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well under pressure specifically during the execution of a live performance
  • Ability tothink on their feet and solve problems quickly and effectively
  • Skilled in effectively handling challenging personalities in a performance environment.
  • Has strong attention to detail
  • Contributes as part of a team and takes initiative to lead others on projects and tasks when needed
  • Maintains a flexible schedule of availability including working nights and weekends as needed to support events and performances within the facility
  • In-depth knowledge of technical theatre and its related fields including stage management
  • Knowledge of lighting systems rigging systems public address and other audio systems
  • General computer proficiency and literacy
