The purpose of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) Coordinator is to provide prevention and substance misuse services for middle and high school students based on the Project SUCCESS evidence- based program. Trained Project SUCCESS coordinators provide comprehensive delivery of Project SUCCESS services. The roles responsibilities and interventions below are an integral part of providing a healthy substance free learning environment where all students have a better opportunity to reach their true potential. prevention based information to students staff and families. rotating monthly building-wide universal prevention and substance misuse initiatives. students with potential or existing risk factors connected with problematic drug and/or alcohol use and refer for appropriate community-based services. the substance misuse support services and policies of the school. development of social competency skills in students such as communication decision making stress and anger management problem solving and resisting peer pressure through targeted prevention and substance misuse classroom lessons and small group involvement. students referred for potential substance misuse concerns and follow-up with students and families needing substance abuse treatment or mental health services in the community. large group prevention/education discussions and programs. programmatic training and guidance necessary from Adapt and the Center of Excellence Project to complete monthly data reporting. the YLTA and the WYLD prevention leadership local and North Country ATOD (Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs) and prevention coalitions.
