As a Software Cloud Engineer II on the CRM Software team you will develop applications that interface with Medtronic implantable cardiac devices and enable remote management of patients.

We are looking for a talented Cloud Engineer II for our Scalable Compute team in Cardiac Rhythm Software division. As a Cloud Engineer II you will be responsible for the health observability and maintainability of our production environment as well as the associated auxiliary components that drive our day-to-day business. An ideal candidate will have a background in cloud native technologies plus system network and storage administration and programming.

This position is in Mounds View MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) operating unit. At Medtronic we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we -person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We are working on-site 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

A Day in the Life

In general the following responsibilities apply for theSoftwareCloud Engineer IIrole. This includes but is not limited to the following:

• Operate and enhance a Kubernetes platform using AWS EKS Flux Istio and Kubecost.
• Implement GitOps workflows and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Helm.
• Monitor and improve system health performance and observability across environments.
• Collaborate with platform engineers and application teams to deliver scalable compute solutions.
• Participate in sprint planning code reviews and agile ceremonies.
• Contribute to automation CI/CD pipelines and platform self-service capabilities.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure production reliability by proactively monitoring services responding to incidents and driving resolution for capabilities owned by the team
• Support cost optimization and resource efficiency using tools like Kubecost and AWS Cost Explorer.

The successful candidate will have:

• Proficiency using Git to manage code include creating and maintaining branches resolving merge conflicts conducting peer code reviews and integrating with CI/CD pipelines for automated workflows.

• Familiar with GitOps tools including Flux and ArgoCD with in-depth involvement in deployments using the rich features of Kustomize.

• Proficient with AWS (EC2 IAM VPC EKS)
• Skilled in Kubernetes and deploying containerized applications
• Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform CloudFormation)
• Basic scripting/programming (Ansible Python Bash Go)

Must Have Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering Software Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering Management Information Systems or related technical field.
• Minimum of 2 years of technical experience or advanced degree with 0 years of technical experience

Nice-to-Have:

• Demonstrated experience managing production workloads on Kubernetes including deployment troubleshooting and upgrade management.
• Proficient in infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Skilled in programming and Test Driven Development using Golang.
• Familiar with GitOps tools including Flux and ArgoCD with in-depth involvement in deployments using Weave Flux.
• Knowledgeable in service mesh technologies such as Istio.
• Experience utilizing cost monitoring solutions like Kubecost.
• Practical exposure to Terraform Kube RBAC Helm Flux Istio Terratest GitHub Actions etc.
• Interested in expanding expertise in Kubernetes Cluster APIKubernetes Gateway API Sidecarless Service Mesh like Istio Ambient Mode..

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$97600.00 - $146400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
