King County Library System is currently seeking a Programming Services Technician to join the Youth and family Services team of the Library Outreach Programs and Services Department.

In this position you will perform various technical and clerical tasks overseeing the preparation circulation and maintenance of programming kits and materials. The Programming Services Technician ensures resource access through accurate order fulfillment material processing and supply this role you will support department operations and service efficiency through organized workflows and record-keeping.

The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday. 8:30am - 4:30pm. and is based at the Issaquah Serice Center.

Examples of Duties

  • Maintains programming kits. Audits and replenishes materials and manages kit repairs.
  • Processes patron partner and staff requests for circulation of programming kits and materials. Retrieves orders and prepares materials for check out. Checks materials in and shelves items upon return.
  • Packs outgoing shipments of library materials.
  • Unpacks shipments and prepares necessary paperwork and/or enters information into database system records. Delivers incoming items to appropriate individuals.
  • Locates and selects vendor for program supplies and materials. Orders parts for kits.
  • Prepares library materials for processing or circulation according to MARC records.
  • Prepares documents reports and monthly statistics.
  • Tracks partner contracts for supported programs.
  • Assists department projects by packing and distributing materials for library programs and/or program database maintenance.
  • Organizes and maintains department supplies and materials backstock.
Secondary Duties
  1. Assists department with clerical support.
  2. Identifies and reports needs for maintenance of equipment and work areas.
  1. Provides back-up to others within the department.
  2. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Desired Minimum Qualification

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of office or library-related experience or coursework preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position will be considered.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee will:

  • Frequently stand and walk throughout work shift and seldom will sit.
  • Frequently reach out at chest level and down with hands and arms and occasionally will reach up.
  • Constantly use hands in conjunction with frequent finger use. Keyboarding may be repetitive up to occasionally.
  • Rotate neck up to occasionally.
  • Seldom operate foot controls.
  • Require extensive close work including use of a computer monitor.
  • Frequently bend stoop or twist at waist and occasionally will squat or crouch.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 20 lbs. occasionally up to 35 lbs. and seldom up to 50 lbs. with the assistance of motorized equipment.
  • Frequently push or pull carts and wheeled equipment with up to moderate force.

Work Environment
Work may be performed in a typical office environment and in the library or a shipping area depending on work tasks.
