As our counselor youll play a key role in guiding students through challenges celebrating their successes and connecting families with valuable resources.
Job Goal:
Create a safe supportive and inclusive school environment where all students can thrive socially emotionally and academically. Plan organize and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned to the Districts Core Values and Mission fostering the skills students need to succeed in school and beyond. Provide guidance interventions and resources that empower students to navigate challenges build resilience and access their chosen path. Establish strong relationships with students families and staff to promote a sense of belonging well-being and community.
Essential Requirements:
- Hold a current Oregon School Counselor License or other appropriate license as issued by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC);
- Conditional License acceptable with willingness to work toward full licensure
- Must meet all other TSPC license requirements including successful Background and Criminal History Clearance
- Ability to maintain a high level of knowledge and skill in counseling practices interventions and strategies that support students academic social and emotional growth
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of child development behavioral supports and best practices in school counseling; commitment to ongoing professional growth and license renewal in accordance with state and district regulations
- Ability to demonstrate standards of moral character integrity and professional ethics serving as a positive role model for students
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students families staff and community members
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with laws and district policies when handling student staff and family information
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from varied cultural linguistic and educational backgrounds fostering an inclusive and respectful environment
- Ability to work effectively in an environment which can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing; perform physically demanding requirements of the job
- Perform physical requirements which may include:
- Moderate to extensive degree of physical and emotional stamina
- Frequent standing walking bending and lifting
- Frequent and prolonged talking/hearing conversations
- Possess near/far visual acuity/depth perception
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids in assisting students with using restrooms and in tending to
injury and illness
- Such alternatives to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans organizes and implements a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with state and district goals to support the academic social and emotional needs of all students
- Provides individual and small-group counseling to address personal social emotional behavioral and academic concerns
- Develops and delivers classroom guidance lessons that promote self-awareness social skills emotional regulation problem-solving career awareness and academic success
- Collaborates with teachers administrators specialists and families to identify and address student needs through prevention intervention and referral services
- Participates in Student Support Team MTSS IEP and 504 meetings contributing data strategies and recommendations to support student success
- Assists students in setting goals developing coping strategies and making responsible decisions to enhance school engagement and achievement
- Provides crisis intervention and conflict resolution services as needed following district protocols for student safety and well-being
- Monitors student progress and maintains accurate complete and confidential records in compliance with laws district policies and professional standards.
- Acts as a liaison between the school families and community resources connecting students and families with appropriate supports
- Collaborates with colleagues to create and maintain a safe respectful and inclusive school climate that fosters a sense of belonging for all students
- Supports the development of positive behavior expectations and assists in implementing proactive strategies to promote appropriate student conduct
- Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service training professional development and self-directed learning
- Demonstrates ethical behavior integrity and professional judgment serving as a positive role model for students
- Maintains regular attendance meets deadlines attends required meetings and adheres to assigned schedules
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Board or Administration
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS BONDING AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:
- Valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate endorsements if required
- Possess a valid First Aid card if required
- Possess a valid Oregon Drivers License if required
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shot Series Training if required

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days and hours to be arranged with salary according to current schedule.
EVALUATION: Following the probationary period performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of licensed personnel.
