The position of Language Access Coordinator is for the purpose of supporting district-wide management and support of language access for students families and employees.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
Plans schedules and monitors language access services.
Serves as the primary contact for families community members and school district staff for all interpretation and translation requests.
Collaborates with schools and departments for the provision of language access services
Ensures compliance with state and federal laws related to language access.
Collects and reports data as required by state and federal law and district policy including annual reporting.
Provides training to district staff on protocols for language access services.
Provides training as required for language consultants including translators and interpreters.
Manages communication functions as required for the position.
Sources suitable language consultants to provide services including interpretation and
translation.
Effectively communicates with internal stakeholders language consultants families and the community to ensure high quality services and products are provided.
Responds in a timely and professional manner to inquiries concerning language access
services.
Contracts with language consultants to arrange different projects and services.
Maintains records as needed.
Coordinates assignment of language consultants and other staff as required.
Processes payments and manages a budget.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports directly to and is supervised by the Director of the Welcome Center.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Associates degree in business or related field or the equivalent of post-secondary education
Preferred:
Bachelors degree in an applicable field of study
Experience as a language access coordinator or in a similar role in the language industry
Experience in creating and maintaining records
Previous experience working with educational materials
Bilingual or multilingual skills in a language common to our community
Allowable Substitutions:
Education beyond a high school diploma may be substituted for experience
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require):
Valid Washington State drivers license preferred.
KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry):
Ability to use a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Office and Office 365 including navigation and keyboarding skills as needed
Understands basic public and community relations techniques
Possesses basic knowledge of accounting and budgeting
Knowledge of community-based resources related to the duties of the position
Knowledge of language access laws policies and procedures at the local state and federal levels

Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and
legal requirements
Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
CTSA Pay Grade 2$ 65508 to $ 72403 (starting at $ 65508) 40 hours per week for a 260-day annual assignment. This position is non-exempt.
Medical dental vision long-term disability and life-insurance eligibility is based upon 630 hours worked within a school year. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement benefits include vacation and paid holidays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting finger dexterity grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts odors chemicals extreme temperatures inadequate lighting workspace restrictions and intense noises.
