Work Location: Remotely serving Northern and Central Californias surrounding counties including but not limited to: Yolo Solano Sacramento Sonoma Marin Napa San Mateo Alameda Contra Costa Monterey Santa Cruz San Benito Santa Clara Madera Stanislaus and surrounding areas.This role is hybrid and will be expected to work from our Berkeley office 2x/month; applicants must be located in or willing to relocate to one of the regions that we serve.

Job Overview
The Partnership Manager Institutional Gifts is responsible for cultivating building and strengthening strategic relationships with institutional partners and companies who want to invest in our work to transform our regional food system. Through a relationship-centered approach they will engage constituents through 1:1 relationship building crafting intimate and purpose-driven events and shaping articulate and compelling grant proposals and reports. They will work collaboratively with the Development Communications Program and Operations teams to meet or exceed our fundraising goals. They will embody our organizational values of equity empathy transformational leadership ecological responsibility and resilience.
The Partnership Manager will report to our Director of Development and will be part of a four-person Development team.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Donor Engagement Strategy & Communications (50%)
- Manage and steward a portfolio of foundation and corporate partners who want to invest in the long-term economic viability of our regions sustainable small farms and ranches
- Cultivate and build a pipeline of donor prospects to expand the community of institutional and corporate partners;
- Share the stories of KTAs clients and organizational impact through a multitude of lenses: economic development ecological stewardship healthy food access and racial justice & equity and understand which framing will support alignment and connection with our partners;
- Develop compelling updates storytelling materials proposals and reports that articulate our work to current and prospective funders;
- Manage an annual grants calendar to ensure that proposals and reports are submitted in a timely manner;
- Work in collaboration with Development Team members to coach and support KTAs Directors in cultivating prospective funding partners in their programmatic regions;
- Attend partner events to represent Kitchen Table Advisors and build community with values-aligned corporate partners and individuals;
- Manage regular donor correspondence with our institutional and corporate partners.
- Create and maintain constituent records. Research and enter organization affiliation and contact information for partners donors and prospects;
- Events Management (20%)
- Lead the design and orchestration of purpose-driven events -- including but not limited to farm tours round-table discussions annual fundraiser and virtual events -- that engage institutional and corporate partners with our programmatic work and inspire them to get involved through philanthropic giving.
- Prospect and procure sponsorships for KTAs annual fundraising event.
- Resource Generation Operations & Program Support (15%)
- Provide input on communications strategy and related donor-facing materials;
- Support financial reconciliation processes with the Operations team and Multiplier;
- Support the design and updating of our relationship management systems;
- Support facilitation and note-taking of Resource Generation and Development-led meetings.
- Organizational Resilience and Shared Leadership (15%)
- Participate in team meetings and retreats;
- Participate in shared leadership activities including team meeting facilitation note taking etc.;
- Participate in interview processes for new team members as needed;
- Perform regular administrative tasks in a timely manner including time sheets expense reports meeting scheduling etc.

Qualifications
We recognize that each applicant will bring unique skills knowledge experiences and background to this position. We welcome diverse experiences and perspectives in our applicant pool and will be looking for candidates who possess many but not necessarily all of the following qualifications and experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience in development / fundraising preferably surrounding sustainable agriculture local food systems economic development social justice;
- Proven track record in building relationships and inspiring people to take action; and managing a portfolio of $1M in total gifts;
- Minimum 3 years experience in writing successful grant proposals and reports;
- Experience working with data management systems Salesforce preferred;
- Experience with event production and management;
- Strong networks and relationships with sustainable farms food businesses nonprofit partners media Northern and/or Central California;
- Experience building trusted relationships with communities who have historically been excluded from resources and recognition within our food system namely BIPOC women low-income immigrant and LGBTQIA communities;
- Strong writing/editing and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent project management skills including a keen eye for all the details;
- Thrives in dynamic startup environments and must be able to be adaptive;
- Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Google Suite Airtable Salesforce/CRM and Adobe;
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred;
- Connection to agriculture: family background or business work experience etc. highly preferred;
- Ability to work nights and weekends on occasion as needed for events;
- Valid drivers license required as there is occasional travel throughout Northern California to meet with our clients and partners.
Travel and Schedule Considerations
- Due to the nature of the work candidates must possess a valid drivers license with access to a vehicle for periodic travel throughout Northern California to meet with business advisors and partners.
- There will be occasional work responsibilities that occur during the evenings and/or weekends.
