POSITION OVERVIEW
The Music Teacher (Elementary & High School) plays a vital role in inspiring a lifelong appreciation for music and fostering creativity discipline and self-expression in students across all grade levels. This position is unique in its reachshaping the earliest musical experiences of young learners while also guiding advanced high school musicians toward mastery and performance excellence. Through engaging developmentally appropriate instruction the Music Teacher nurtures musical skill cultural understanding and personal growth while setting high expectations for achievement. As a key member of the school community the Music Teacher collaborates with colleagues communicates meaningfully with families and contributes to a positive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed both musically and academically.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Instructional Responsibilities
Teach music at both the elementary and high school levels adapting instruction to meet a wide range of student abilities and developmental stages.
Plan and deliver engaging standards-based lessons that incorporate age-appropriate activities for all learners.
Maintain a positive inclusive and safe classroom environment that fosters participation creativity and student growth.
Utilize research-based instructional strategies and remain current in music education practices and pedagogy.
Differentiate instruction to address diverse learning styles abilities and needs including intervention strategies when appropriate.
Set and communicate high expectations for student achievement both verbally and in writing to students and parents.
Incorporate opportunities for students to develop higher-level thinking skills through questioning discussion and performance-based activities.
Assessment & Data Use
Use multiple forms of assessment including formative and summative measures to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
Provide timely meaningful feedback to students and guide them in self-assessing and reflecting on their own learning.
Align instructional materials and resources with lesson objectives and learning targets.
Adjust lesson pacing and strategies based on student performance data.
Classroom Management & Environment
Establish and maintain positive relationships with students encouraging respect responsibility and collaboration.
Manage student behavior consistently using respectful correction and positive reinforcement.
Organize lessons and transitions to maximize instructional time and maintain student engagement.
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to share student progress and engage them in their childs musical education.
Collaborate with colleagues administrators and support staff as part of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and other school-based teams.
Participate actively and cooperatively in site-based decision-making processes.
Consult with counselors psychologists and other designated staff to plan and implement student support strategies.
Coordinate and train paraeducators as needed.

Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional skills and content knowledge.
Exhibit professionalism integrity and equitable treatment of all students and colleagues.
