MUSICTEACHER AT VANGUARD ACADEMY & LARSON HEIGHTS ELEMENTARYSCHOOL

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Music Teacher (Elementary & High School) plays a vital role in inspiring a lifelong appreciation for music and fostering creativity discipline and self-expression in students across all grade levels. This position is unique in its reachshaping the earliest musical experiences of young learners while also guiding advanced high school musicians toward mastery and performance excellence. Through engaging developmentally appropriate instruction the Music Teacher nurtures musical skill cultural understanding and personal growth while setting high expectations for achievement. As a key member of the school community the Music Teacher collaborates with colleagues communicates meaningfully with families and contributes to a positive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed both musically and academically.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors degree or post-graduate work in Music. Masters degree preferred.
  2. Valid Washington State Teacher certification with a K-12 music endorsement.
  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students parents community and staff.
  4. Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive attitude and collaborate effectively in a team setting contributing to site-based planning decision-making and management processes.
  5. Demonstrated understanding of research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction.
  6. Recent successful experience working with educators in demonstrating and modeling effective instructional strategies and assessment practices.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of needs of diverse learners and strategies for addressing these needs.
  8. Understanding of appropriate local and state standards.
  9. Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students staff and district patrons.
  10. Evidence/demonstration of use of technology to enhance student learning or willingness to learn.
  11. Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks.
  12. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with students teachers school administrators support personnel and community
  13. members.
  14. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  15. Ability to teach and engage with elementary-aged students as well as high school students at Vanguard Academy.
  16. Ability to teach both vocal and instrumental music.
  17. Experience knowledge and skill working with Washington States Educational Reform.
  18. Ability to support the buildings academic goals for reading math and/or writing.
  19. Experience with music production equipment.
  20. Experience with playingand/or teaching guitar or keyboard.
  21. Bilingual preferred.
