Job Description
Pine Lake Prep a North Carolina top-rated charter school is seeking a part-timeMiddle School EducationAssociateto provide both instructional and non-instructional support to a team of teachers as designated by the school administration. This position will work closely with teachers to complete various administrative tasks and non-instructional paperwork. The candidate in this position will manage procedures and supervise student behavior during transitions lunch assemblies and other unstructured activities as well as while the teacher delivers instruction. They may aid in instruction by supervising projects assessments and digital learning and/or by instructing students in small groups or individually.
Essential functions of teaching positions include:
Classroom and School Environment
- Hold students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement that are ambitious and measurable
- Contribute to a culture of respect enthusiasm and rapport
- Manage student behavior during transitions and less structured time (e.g. study halls lunch)
- Monitor independent work time on assessments for separate setting projects skill practice or digital learning
Professional
- Solicit and eagerly receive feedback from supervisor and team members to improve professional skills
- Actively monitor those students who have been assigned in school suspension.
- Maintain administrative duties on behalf of teacher (such as maintaining confidentiality of assessments and academic integrity of students) during separate setting assessments
- Collaborate with teacher(s) and support personnel (counselors/ESL) if applicable
- Participate in professional development opportunities
- Assist with preparation for state and national testing and accountability
- Tutor small groups and individuals under the direction and using the tools/rubrics of the supervising teachers and supervise projects skill practice and digital learning.
Ideal candidates will have previous experience working with students at themiddle school level demonstrate effectiveness working with diverse demographics and possess knowledge of specific health lifestyle and associatededucationalneeds of the specific student population. Personal computer and related software application knowledge is a must. A Bachelors degree is a plus but not required. Must be available for occasional travel for field trips and errands.
