Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is toperform supervisory and participatory recreation work directing a small staff administeringand leading recreation programs for the public and providing services andfacilities for organized groups at a small recreation center. The workresponsibilities are: supervises employees and volunteers; oversees the administration of recreationprograms; manages the community centers financial resources; and contributesto the department objectives by performing additional duties involvingcommunity center promotion facility maintenance and facility safety andsecurity assessments. Employees in this class typically supervisesmall staffs of Recreation Leader Is Recreation Aides and volunteers inactivities and programs. The Community Center Director II is distinguished fromDirector III in that the Community Center Director II is more involved inleading programs (50% of time or more) is generally assigned to a smallerfacility and is generally in charge of a smaller staff (average threesubordinates). The Director III is generally in charge of a larger facilitywith a larger staff (average seven subordinates) with open gym activities and/orathletic programs and activities. TheCommunity Center Director IIs report to the Recreation Area Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelorsdegree in Health Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Recreation Administrationor a closely related field and one (1) year of professional supervisoryexperience in the administration of recreation and/or athletic programs in aparks and recreation department school or similar agency.

NOTE:Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisiteknowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must have and maintain a valid Drivers license andinsurable driving record. May be required to work nights weekends and overtimefor special events and emergencies.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:Ability to exert moderate physical effort in light worktypically involving some combination of walking stooping kneeling crouchingand which may involve some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling of objectsand materials of moderate weight (12 - 20) lbs.

Kind of Examination

The current vacancy is with theCity of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department.Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.
