Paraprofessional Special Education Sub Sep (MDAP) (1.0)

Brennan Middle School

Start date:August 26 2025 with orientation days prior

The MDAP program provides a highly-structured environment that emphasizes developing and strengthening students skills in adaptive living communication academics self-regulation and mobility.

Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member to assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implements lessons and activities with the necessary accommodations and modifications required to meet the individual needs of students in the classroom as directed by the teacher.
  • Implements interventions and de-escalation strategies with students who display behavioral issues within the school setting.
  • Collect and accurately record behavioral social academicand other data as required per students specific goals and programming.
  • Consistently communicates and collaborates with staff to foster student success.
  • Assist students with physical or social disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities including self-care such as toileting.
  • Implements positive behavior support plans and collects data on student progress.
  • Assists students in non-instructional areas such as supervising the student lunch programs bus dutyelective duty corridor and other related non-instructional areas including self-care toileting/bathroom.
  • Performs other job duties as required or directed by supervisors.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with ABA principles.
  • Experience with collecting data.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students employees and others.
  • Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students withdisabilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students staff and others contacted in the course of work.
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to assist with all aspects of student self-care
  • Implement crisis/emergency procedures according to protocol.

Qualifications Profile

  • Prior experience working with students with disabilities.
  • ABA and data collection experience preferred
  • Safety care training preferred.
  • CNA preferred or first aid and CPR licensed
  • Highly Qualified: 2 years of college credits or equivalent (ParaPro)
