KBR is seeking a Senior CNC Machinist & Machine Shop Lead with advanced experience in 5-axis milling and CNC turning and programming to run the NRL machine shop and lead a team of highly skilled machinists. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with machining operations while managing daily shop activities schedules providing estimates for parts budgets quality and workflow for mission-critical hardware supporting spaceflight and aerospace programs.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead daily operations of the machine shop including scheduling work assignments and quality control.
Program set up and operate CNC mills (including 5-axis) and CNC lathes to produce high-tolerance aerospace components.
Develop complex CNC programs and optimize tool paths for efficiency and precision.
Select tooling fixtures and machining parameters to meet material requirements and dimensional tolerances.
Read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings blueprints and GD&T callouts.
Inspect hardware using micrometers calipers and other precision measuring instruments.
Troubleshoot machining and programming issues implementing corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with ISO AS9100 and aerospace manufacturing standards.
Maintain and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all shop equipment.
Mentor and train machinists in advanced CNC programming and machining techniques.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues.

Basic Compensation:
$95300 - $143000 USD annually
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidates knowledge skills abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade school or associate degree in manufacturing technology preferred.
10 years CNC machining experience.
Advanced proficiency in CNC CAM software for both milling and turning.
Expertise in 3-axis milling and CNC lathe operations.
Deep understanding of aerospace-grade materials (aluminum titanium stainless steel Inconel composites).
Strong GD&T interpretation skills.
Experience with precision measurement equipment.
Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Desired:
Security Clearance: Secret or higher
Aerospace or space industry manufacturing background.
AS9100 quality system knowledge.
Lead Lean manufacturing 5S and process improvement initiatives.
