Job Description

Family Wellbeing Support Services Practitioner: North

Launceston and Northern Region

Maximum Term Full Time

CatholicCare Tasmania is the primary social services agency of the Catholic Church across Tasmania. We have 60 years experience delivering a wide range of services and support to improve individual family and community wellbeing. Our services are available and open to all with a particular focus on families young people and children.

About the role

The Family Wellbeing Support Service (FWSS) Practitioner provides early intervention and non-clinical support for children and young people aged up to 18 years within the Child and Youth services programs including Inspire at Home Bringing Baby Home Family Support Program Integrated Family Support Services Communities for Children and Family Wellbeing Support Service (FWSS).

As the FWSS Practitioner you will:

  • Hold Tertiary qualifications in Social Work Psychology or a related field or equivalent experience in Health Social or Community Services.
  • Provide intensive early intervention support and short-term immediate assistance for children young people and their families.
  • Engage in community outreach education community development activities and therapeutic group-based programs.
  • Have capacity to work flexibly outside of core business hours to support the work with children young people and their families including outreach and outpost travel.
  • Use a trauma-informed approach for one-on-one and group early intervention and support.
  • Utilise case management skills for therapeutic interventions wellbeing assessments and administrative tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and coordinate with external stakeholders to organise client support and group facilitation.

Essential Requirements

  • Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (Tasmania)
  • National Police Criminal History Check
  • Valid full Tasmanian Drivers Licence
