News UK is a major contributor to a 4 year global partnership with Google that includes News Corps businesses in the US and Australia. This deal includes significant workstreams across our editorial marketing and commercial functions. Outside of the deal News UK has many dependencies with Google across the entire business. As the pace scale and complexity of these interdependencies continues to evolve the Senior Strategic Partner Manager joins up the various conversations and activities and acts the central conduit of business touchpoints with Google.
Requires a foundational understanding of AI given its central importance to the evolution of Googles products.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee delivery in the UK of the News Corp & Google partnership creating and constantly developing a strong partnership framework and briefing senior leadership to guide decision-making
Ensure deal commitments are met holding the Google and internal teams to account for meeting their individual objectives including contractual obligations. Implement and maintain a strong reporting structure to proactively monitor identify and escalate any potential delivery issues and provide support for local business areas to engage in new opportunities
Work with key members of The Times The Sun and Broadcasting to communicate their strategies to our key Google contacts. Work with Google to identify new product and platform integrations develop new opportunities and implement where appropriate. Strong internal stakeholder relationships in place to maximise opportunities
Be the central day to day point of contact for our external relationship managers at Google. Establish strong ways-of-working with each of them understand their priorities facilitate introduction to News UK subject matter experts as required
Manage our central relationship with YouTube underpinned by our Joint Business Plan. Run regular workshops support video teams in achieving their strategies and ensure that News UK is prioritised for new innovations on YouTubes product roadmap
Build deep relationships across Google outside of our dedicated partner contacts including for example: Google Ad Manager Google Ads Play Store YouTube Partner Sales Enablement Privacy Sandbox Cloud Trust & Safety Google TV Media Labs. Leverage these relationships to unlock better service and identify opportunities to extract further value
Integrate closely with commercial teams on Google marketing pitches collaborating to ensure we have the best chance of winning the business
Work with business unit leads to triage and resolve escalations and general ad hoc queries
Advocate for News UKs interests with Google and with News Corp HQ
