  • Associate degree beneficial.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working with Medicaid billing particularly with the School based ACCESS program beneficial

  • Strong interpersonal skills able to collaborate to solve problems.

  • Strong Technology skills with various application and databases.

  • Ability to schedule time to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with or without general supervision.

  • To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Office Word Processing software.

This is a Support; Level 13 position with a salary range starting at $50100 and can increase based upon education and related experience.

Job Summary: The School Based ACCESS Program (SBAP) Specialist- Support is responsible for supporting the daily operation of the SBAP program including the Random Moment Time Study (RMTS) Roster and the billing system for the state vendor for all IU supported programs including contracted districts.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in and support cross-training efforts to ensure continuity of SBAP operations including gaining working knowledge of key tasks performed by team members and providing coverage as needed.

  • Coordinate in a timely manner with the authorizing physician and district personnel to verify that appropriate student documentation required for billing is received.

  • Review monthly management and exception reports provided by the state vendor to identify discrepancies ensure data accuracy and support compliance with program requirements.

  • Maintain and update the SBAP Provider Revalidation process to ensure continued participation in the SBAP program.

  • Participate in training sessions regional meetings and focus groups to remain current with program regulations policies and guidance.

  • Maintain organized digital and/ or paper filing systems for all required student and staff documentation regularly retire records in accordance with the established DHS and IU records retention policies in a timely manner.

  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on SBAP program requirements and processes for staff teachers parents and service providers and conduct quarterly training sessions for both related service providers and administrative personnel within the district and the IU.

  • Discover and inform SBAP staff of procedures for best practices across the department through Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring internal controls and periodic internal audits are conducted in alignment with Department of Human Services (DHS) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines across the SBAP department.

  • Support families as a COMPASS community partner by assisting with the Medical Assistance (MA) application process and coordinating with the County Assistance Office to provide information to potentially eligible students and parents.

  • Support the preparation and execution of the annual agreement with the Authorizing Physician for review of records including preparation of the purchase requisition to encumber funds and submission of payment requests to accounts payable and ensure accurate budget tracking for these services.

  • Provide support across the department as needed assisting with tasks and responsibilities as they arise to ensure efficient and effective operations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time 260-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are dependent on the needs of the districts. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: Little travel to client locations is expected for this position.
