Job Description
A leading engineering firm is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in construction heavy engineering or mining. This is a senior-level role ideal for a candidate who thrives in technically complex environments and is eager to take ownership of mechanical design and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the mechanical design process from concept through to completion
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of engineers and designers
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated engineering solutions
Conduct detailed engineering calculations and prepare technical reports
Ensure compliance with industry standards safety regulations and project specifications
Liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met
Oversee the preparation of mechanical drawings specifications and documentation
Participate in project planning budgeting and scheduling
Minimum Requirements:
BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the construction heavy engineering or mining sectors
Proven design experience is essential
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems materials and engineering best practices
Ability to manage multiple projects and lead engineering teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional registration (or eligibility) is advantageous
