Job Description

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $130000.00 $140000.00.

The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.

The Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) provides a wide range of services and programs for youth at every stage of the juvenile justice process. Our goals are to (a) build stronger and safer communities and advance public safety by preventing juveniles from entering the New York Citys juvenile justice system (b) provide therapeutic treatment and services to youth in our custodial care and (c) help juveniles access the tools they need to leave the justice system for good. We strive to help families and young people by providing supportive services that are responsive to the needs of individual youth and families.

Within DYFJ Close to Home (CTH) provides residential placement services for Juvenile Delinquents in a homelike setting close to their families and communities. DYFJ is seeking an Executive Director of Program Services for Close to Home (CTH) and NSD. The Executive Director will be charged with improving overall delivery of program services offered in CTH and NSD and will serve as an integral member of the ACS Leadership Team.

The duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director will include but will not be limited to:

- Supervise manage and oversee day-to-day activities and programs offered by contracted providers school operation and Non-Secure Detention (NSD).

- Supervise and monitor program performance of NSD providers and identify trends/patterns that will help reduce idle time and improve overall quality of service.

- Meet with contracted agencies monthly to support programming across CTH and NSD and develop relationships with community stakeholders.

- Identify gaps in facility programming and work with providers to identify ways to close those gaps.

- Work with the Division of Policy Planning and Measurement (DPPM) to identify corrective action plans and heighten monitoring of programming in the facilities.

- Collaborate with the Case Management team and agency staff to identify programs available for youth in the facility and community (aftercare).

- Partner with NSD and CTH home providers to find programs and/or activities that are good fit for youth in their care.

- Identify deliverables and objectives for programs implemented.

- Manage distribution of special event tickets and donations.

Qualifications :

1. A masters degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and four years of full-time paid professional experience in a child care institution or in group work with children in a child care setting including two years in an administrative capacity; or

2. A masters degree from an accredited college in sociology psychology education public administration or a closely related field and five years of full-time paid professional experience as described in 1 above including two years in an administrative capacity; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have two years of administrative experience in a child care setting.
