Job Description
Location: Were flexible on location you can be based in Czechia Italy France or Germany and work closely with colleagues across Europe.
John Crane a global leader with operations in 22 European entities is seeking an experienced European VAT Specialist to join our in-house finance team.
Were looking for someone with solid VAT experience (including audit exposure) who enjoys solving complex VAT challenges but doesnt necessarily need to be a senior-level manager. Youll work closely with our European finance teams and our Global VAT Director to ensure compliance support audits and advise on cross-border VAT matters.
What youll do
- Be the main contact for VAT-related questions from colleagues and advisors
- Monitor changes to VAT legislation across Europe and ensure compliance in all jurisdictions
- Support VAT audits and investigations
- Help maintain and improve VAT processes within ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Collaborate with local finance teams and Shared Service Centres to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Provide VAT advice on cross-border transactions supply chain changes and business initiatives
- Assist in VAT training for finance and operational teams
Qualifications :
What you bring
- Degree in finance accounting tax or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in European VAT ideally within a multinational or Big 4 environment.
- Strong knowledge of EU VAT legislation and local rules (Italy Czechia Germany France Netherlands).
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP an advantage) and VAT reporting tools.
- Proactive detail-oriented and collaborative approach.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
