The Senior Delivery Manager (SDM) leads the Delivery Managers for the Release Train as a member of the Release Train leadership team and is the primary escalation point for existing business within a Release Train. They ensure all project-related activities such as project planning and coordination with interfaces and are responsible for release management supplier management activities. The SDM has primary responsibility for monitoring ART TNS and costs and a shared responsibility for achieving ART profitability project objectives and targets (time cost spec. quality procurement profit) and a sole responsibility w.r.t. leveraging scope and budget if a customer project target is at risk. The SDM professionally applies project management processes methods and tools and manages the interface between customers and the Release Train along with other Delivery Managers and other stakeholders.
The key tasks and responsibilities of the Senior Delivery Manager are as follows:
- Leads Delivery Managers assigned to the Release Train
- Escalation point for customer commercial topics for existing business: reporting progress discussing new proposals negotiating scope & committing achievable delivery dates supporting contract negotiations T&Cs discussions with Sales/Legal aligning with ART
- Issues Quotes & prepares invoices
- Issuing Purchase Orders of project
- Commercial interface for: Financial reporting of Release Train projects creating opportunities in C4C (Salesforce equivalent) maintaining forecasts in PPM
- Shared responsibility for achievement of the PM-KPIs (cockpit chart completeness and consistency OTD EBIT)
- Project Budget Cost Tracking
- Milestone Planning for projects and releases
- Coordination of all teams contributing to the project (no dedicated team)
- Interface PPQA (e.g. Release Hotfix PreQIC KIR)
- Project-related coordination of Audits / Certification
- Initiate a project by putting the endeavor in a Lean Business Case set-up an Epic hypothesis statement and align with stakeholders to anchor the customer endeavor in the PI Planning
- Ensuring representation of customer portfolio items in PF-/RT-Backlogs (SAFe: ART Backlog)
- Ensure maintaining internal SAFe artifacts / processes Risk management PrjMan PEP related Change Management Lessons learned.
- Align with RTPOs & POs as technical responsible of the definition of what is delivered (what does the customer want/need)
- Estimate specify and adapt the planning (time budget).
- Responsible for change management affecting the project (including scope and budget).
- Approval of project-related change requests.
- PI Planning being the commercial voice of the customer. Providing inputs for prioritization to Product Owners promoting customer centricity in the organization.
- Collect / enter generic customer requirements into appropriate tool and ensure completion of requirements evaluation.
- Facilitate customer feature backlog prioritization
- Bringing Market needs to Product Management
- Customer program level planning working with ARTs & People Leads on resources/capacity to deliver projects planning resource demand in PPM.
- Leading quote creation working with the team to prepare cost estimates and scope description work with SCO to create quote & get approvals in IT4S (Commercial IT Toolset).
