The Attending is expected to play an active educator role in the education of undergraduate medical students residents and fellows of the Division of Cardiac Surgery and nursing staff (e.g. simulator training) of the ICU.
The successful applicant will report to the Head of the Division of Cardiac Surgery. We value maintaining a working environment that is optimal for the delivery of excellent health care and the successful hire will actively engage in personal coaching/leadership training.
Compensation is through participation in the Dalhousie University Department of Surgery Academic Funding Plan (AFP).
Qualifications :
To qualify the candidate must be certified in Cardiac Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is expected to have skills in coronary artery bypass grafting mitral valve replacement aortic valve replacement Bentall procedures and Type A repairs. Fellowship training in a specific area is recommended. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in Nova Scotia. Participation in research is expected.
