Job Description and Responsibilities
Interpro Pipe and Steel is seeking a temporary Buyer to join our team in this role you will be responsible for coordinating and expediting the purchases of materials and services to support operations. The successful candidate will be a dynamic self-starter with the ability to initiate business possess strong negotiating communication and problem-solving skills.
- Purchase of stock and non-stock materials
- Receive and complete requisitions for the purchase of materials by selecting and assigning vendors and freight carriers
- Post prices shipping and payment terms availability and tax status of material and services on requisitions
- Interpret descriptive information to determine federal and provincial tax applications
- Analyze and research data pertaining to assigned commodity groups in awarding of orders such as vendors prices terms location reliability product quality requirements and availability
- Receive visits and phone suppliers place and expedite orders settles claims and survey products
- Research prices develop payment and delivery terms for all purchases assignments and establishes and maintains sources of supply
- Prepare Request for Quotation forms and Purchase Orders for various types of purchases
- Work with Logistics to route freight assigns carriers for all purchases in assigned commodity areas within established guidelines
- Make recommendations to user departments as to availability of improved products recommends product alternatives to ensure quality availability and cost efficiency
- Maintain supplier and product catalogues price lists. Sends out material and service quotations updates and maintains contract list
Requirements
Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
Three (3) Classes in Supply Chain Management Purchasing Designation or Equivalent Purchasing Diploma
Working knowledge and application of word processing and spreadsheet software
Typical administrative / office environment: no exposure to adverse environmental conditions
Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 lb of force occasionally
