WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

This position oversees the maintenance of agency aircraft and requires expertise in aircraft engines parts and systems including their design use repair and maintenance. Responsibilities include managing third-party maintenance contracts and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations departmental standards and cooperative agency requirements.

Duties involve scheduling coordinating and inspecting maintenance projects monitoring costs and contractor performance and conducting routine aircraft maintenance as needed. Under general direction this position inspects certifies directs and assists in the repair maintenance and overhaul of various aircraft from light single-engine piston aircraft and helicopters to single engine turbine aircraft and helicopters.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:

This position is located and based out of our Fairbanks Aircraft Section. The work environment is friendly team-oriented and productive. Our Fairbanks-based Aircraft Section operates from the airports located within the Golden Heart City of Fairbanks often from Fairbanks International Airport or one of the nearby landing areas.

The work schedule is 5 days on and 2 days off. This position does not offer housing nor does it offer someone living outside of Fairbanks paid travel to and from the worksite.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:


  • Acts as a Quality Assurance Evaluator for aircraft and avionics maintenance contracts insuring work schedules and proper priority of projects. Serves as a technical specialist in the development and evaluation of maintenance contract specifications modifications and pre-award reviews.
  • The Aircraft Maintenance Inspector must have experience working on both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. The ideal candidate will possess experience with piston and turbine engines (preferred PT6 and Saffran helicopter). It is the inspectors responsibility to ensure the aircrafts timely completion and airworthiness to the maximum extent possible with multiple vendors.
  • Must have the ability to consistently schedule inspect and evaluate repair of aircraft in a safe manner in adverse conditions and follow all the applicable Federal Aviation Administration Regulation Advisory Circulars Airworthiness Directives the Departments Operating Procedures Manual the Aircraft Manufacturers Service Manual and Service Bulletins.
  • Must satisfy maintenance inspector qualifications which meet or exceed experience following federal state and current manufacturer recommended maintenance procedures.
  • Diagnoses discrepancies reported by pilot staff to determine appropriate repairs for mechanical and avionics problems

Eligible to obtain a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Inspector Authorization (IA) Certificate.

Special Note:
As a condition of employment incumbents will be required to obtain a valid FAA IA Certificate per 14 CFR 65.91(c). Continued employment is contingent upon obtaining an FAA IA Certificate within 12 months of initial hire and must be maintained throughout employment.

Applicants who currently possess an FAA IA Certificate must submit a copy at time of interview.

Possession of an FAA commercial pilot license is highly desirable but not required.

AT TIME OF INTERVIEW:
  • Submit any training certificates for Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) PT6A - Small Series Line & Base Maintenance Airbus Helicopters H125 Airframe Field Maintenance SAFRAN Turbomeca USA Arriel 2D Level 1 and Level 2 line maintenance or Robinson R44 Factory Maintenance Training courses.

  • List of three (3) professional references two of which are from a current or former direct supervisor.

  • Last two (2) performance evaluations if available
SPECIAL NOTE:

  • A valid drivers license is required.

  • Be willing and able to work overtime. Occasionally needed after hours and weekends to respond to maintenance events.

  • Be able to travel as needed often on short notice to respond to maintenance needs and vendor locations.

A misdemeanor crime of domestic violence is an offense that is (1) a misdemeanor under Federal or state law; and (2) has as an element the use or attempted use of physical force or the threatened use of a deadly weapon committed by a current or former spouse parent or guardian of the victim by a person with whom the victim shares a child in common by a person who is cohabiting with or has cohabited with the victim as a spouse parent or guardian or by a person similarly situated to a spouse parent or guardian of the victim.


BACKGROUND CHECK

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position and required access to APSIN an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
