Job Description

This post is available as a secondment opportunity or as a fixed term contract

9 months contract

28 hours per week 4 days a week (happy to talk flexible working)

Were looking for someone to lead TUC policy development and advocacy work focused on protecting North Sea oil and gas workers growing clean power supply chains and improving job quality across the energy sector. This is a 9-month fixed term contract to cover a secondment period.

About the role

The Policy Lead will drive forwardthe TUCs energy and climate policy work with a particular focus on securing a just transition for North Sea oil and gas workers developing clean power supply chains and championing job quality improvements across the energy sector.

Youll be researching and writing policy documents working closely with affiliated trade unions evaluating evidence to support policy positions and identifying opportunities to advance the TUCs advocacy objectives.

The role forms part of the TUCs work promoting a rapid and just transition to a safe climate future that protects quality jobs.

What key experience skills knowledge and understanding do you need

  • Evidence-based policy development experience on North Sea oil and gas workforce issues and the climate transition is essential
  • Proven ability to identify advocacy opportunities in climate & energy policy and design effective campaign interventions
  • Strong and persuasive communication skills with excellent writing abilities for diverse audiences including briefings blogs and press materials
  • Knowledge of current climate and energy policy landscape particularly North Sea transition and clean power supply chains
  • Ability to work independently manage complex workloads to tight deadlines and contribute effectively to teamwork
