The Role:

The Lead Launch Electrical Diagnostician is a key position to support the plant in achieving electrical first-time quality (EFTQ) glidepath during vehicle program launch. The primary responsibility is to lead the Launch Electrical Diagnosticians in supporting the electrical end of line (EOL) repair process. These roles will collect data and information to help resolve the ongoing issues impacting EFTQ during launch. This role participates in the GM Automotive Manufacturing Electrical College (AMEC) for thorough training before launch activities begin.

What Youll Do: (Responsibilities):

The GMAutomotiveManufacturingElectricalCollege or AMEC is an immersive training program that provides participants the opportunity to train in both classroom and hands-on settings for future employmenton a Launch Electrical Teamat one of GMs vehicle assembly facilities.

  • Be a member of the plants Electrical Team - an integrated technical organization consisting of members from Manufacturing Quality Supplier Quality and Product Development organizations focused on problem solving the plants top external and internal quality problems. Report to the Lead Launch Electrical Coordinator within that team.
  • Lead the other Launch Electrical Diagnostician(s)
  • Lead electrical troubleshooting efforts for the launch team focusing on top-hitting EFTQ issues using Red X statistical problem solving and strategy-based diagnostics.
  • Create actionable items from electrical failures to enable issue documentation and follow up. Leads corrective action plans.
  • Complete required training at various sites around GM and suppliers. (Travel is required in this role)
  • Lead disconnect workshop during launch to develop database for repair faults (knowledge-basedrepair systems) in GSIP.
  • Support Final Process Repairmen regarding training troubleshooting vehicle issues repair root cause entry into GSIP Service Information schematic and other issues Plant repair diagnostic tool (GDS2/MDI) and reporting systems. Coordinate training on new model features for repairmen on service diagnostic tools via Raytheon or applicable company.
  • Conduct training of vehicle electrical systems for Team Leaders so they can support their Team Members

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities: (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience working with automotive electrical sub-systems
  • Ability to lead technical people
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills particularly to translate highly complex technical issues to non-technical people
  • Self-motivated and innovative
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Able to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidence
  • Ability to work OT weekends holidays etc. as needed
  • Ability to work/rotate through all shifts (1st 2nd & 3rd)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 40% of the time or higher based on the business needs.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Masters Degree in Engineering
  • 7 years of experience working with automotive electrical sub-systems
  • Prior manufacturing plant experience in either Electrical or Plant Floor Operations
  • Quality system knowledge of processes in manufacturing
  • ASE certification or similar
  • Thorough working knowledge of GMS and supporting BIQ4 Deliverables
