The Custodial Worker will complete routine cleaning and general upkeep under the direction of their Facility & Maintenance Supervisor to provide students with a safe attractive clean and efficient place in which to learn play and develop. Custodial Workers complete all daily and routine annual cleaning. Performance Responsibilities: 1. Work with the principal and other responsible officials with planning for and carrying out special requirements as required. 2. Prepare and complete cleaning schedule for the areas assigned with the frequency requirements provided. 3. Lift and move tables desks chairs and other equipment and furniture to assist with the needs of the regular classroom and other special events throughout the school year. 4. Maintain an inventory and recommend the purchase of necessary supplies tools and equipment to fulfill the duties of the job. 5. Complete any and all maintenance and repair work as assigned by the Facility & Maintenance Supervisor maintaining a high standard of safety cleanliness and efficiency. 6. Assist on non-school days with the task of inspecting the safe efficient and proper operation of all equipment and systems at the discretion of the Facility & Maintenance Supervisor. This includes securing windows and entryways. 7. In partnership with other custodial staff visually inspect the entire building on a daily basis to ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance addressing issues immediately when possible or communicating with the Facility & Maintenance Supervisor for larger scale issues. 8. Assist in loading and unloading of delivery vehicles as may be requested during scheduled shifts. 9. Assist with snow removal and ice control tasks for all locations not covered by town or outside contractor services including entryways sidewalks and pathways around buildings even when outside the normally scheduled work shifts. 10. Assist the Facility & Maintenance Supervisor in responding to facility-related emergencies and completing simple repairs as required. 11. Maintain a positive attitude with all staff and students. 12. Perform such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal and Facility & Maintenance Supervisor. Qualifications: 1. Ability to read write communicate and comprehend documents such as memos safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 2. Ability to work outside in any and all weather conditions. 3. Ability to perform physical work efficiently while standing twisting kneeling bending crouching sitting reaching or balancing. 4. Ability to climb a ladder up to 20 ft. high and be able to complete tasks about head level. 5. Knowledge and ability to operate power tools and hand tools as well as commercial cleaning equipment safely without supervision. 6. Ability to lift carry and maneuver objects up to 75 lbs. independently and ability to push and pull objects in excess of 100 lbs. assisted. 7. Ability to do basic math functions (add subtract multiply divide). 8. Knowledge or ability to gain learning about safety procedures for storage usage handling and disposal of potentially hazardous waste and cleaning materials. 9.
