The Leidos Performance and Readiness Division under the Health Sector currently has an opening for a Cognitive Science Research Intern to work within the Naval Health Research Centers Warfighter Performance Expeditionary Cognitive Science (ExCS) Research Team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in field-based and in laboratory research settings on military sites working on projects which aim to improve the health and performance of warfighters and military personnel.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support recruitment of active duty wounded warrior and civilian subjects for human subjects research protocols; conduct pre-screening and meetings to obtain informed consent abiding by human-use approved principles
- Follow human-use Institutional Review Board protocols and procedures for government research studies
- Operate laboratory equipment; follow standard operating procedure documents for equipment; keep equipment secure
- Interact with and collect physiological biological cognitive and health data from human subjects abiding by human research protection regulations.
- Conduct experimental preparation testing and data collection and organization in field and laboratory settings
- Support data management and data analysis under the direction of research leads
- Regularly and effectively communicate with project leads and principal investigators
- Complete required compliance training on time

Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in nutrition neuroscience cognitive science cognitive neuroscience psychology or a related scientific field from an accredited college or university.
- Proven ability to read comprehend and follow research protocols and instructions set forth by principal investigators and team leads.
- An ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
- Ability to work non-regular hours (e.g. nights and weekends) as needed for data collection.
- Ability to work professionally and respectfully with military service members.
- Ability to perform human subjects data collection from an active-duty military population undergoing training and operations while not inhibiting or otherwise negatively impacting those training and operations procedures.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Any school experience with psychology cognitive or neuroscience research or equivalent education and experience
- Any school experience conducting research with a military population.
- Active Interim or Secret clearance is a plus.

Pay Range $46800.00 - $84600.00
