Job Description

Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of over 245000 residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Social Inclusion Support Worker is part of Seniors and Disability Services within Cumberland City Council which provides a range of quality direct services including information advocacy carer support nutrition services (home delivered and centre based meals) transport and activities events and social groups to maintain overall wellbeing and independence. By providing a committed approach to person centred essential support the team seeks to promote social inclusion encourage an enhanced quality of life and increase capacity for seniors and people with disability to participate in the community.

The Social Inclusion Support Worker is responsible for providing care and support to older people or people with disability who require assistance with daily tasks. These services may be provided in private homes at Council venues or in the community and aim to improve their quality of life.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Certificate III in Aged Care or the equivalent experince in a relevant field
    Ability to communicate with a range of people including older people staff volunteers and carers
    Good written and verbal communication skills including ability to write clear and concise care notes and other organisational forms
    Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and the ability to manage workload and a range of priorities.
    Ability to relate and empathise with a diverse range of people
    Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
    Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
    Class C drivers licence and access to own vehicle.
