Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Bedford
Salary: 35000 - 45000 per annum

We are seeking a talented and driven Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on robotics automation and special-purpose machinery to join our client in Bedford. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative engineering projects from concept through to manufacture integrating mechanical electrical and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automated machinery robotic systems and mechanical components using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Create detailed 3D models assembly drawings and manufacturing documentation

  • Work closely with electrical and controls engineers to integrate automation and robotics into machinery designs

  • Perform engineering calculations structural analysis and design validation to ensure performance and safety standards are met

  • Collaborate with manufacturing assembly and testing teams to ensure smooth project delivery

  • Manage projects from initial concept through to commissioning ensuring timelines and budgets are met

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives applying innovative design solutions to increase efficiency and productivity

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

  • Proven experience in mechanical design for robotics automation or special-purpose machinery

  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Understanding of mechanical pneumatic and automation principles

  • Experience working alongside electrical and control engineering teams

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
