Description

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the implementation delivery evaluation and advancement of Goodwills childcare and family services programs and facilities. This position is operational with both professional and front-line responsibilities including direct childcare service fund development and federal and/or state compliance management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but are not limited to the following as other duties may be assigned:

  • Promotes the general goals and objectives of the Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries.
  • Create implement and provide continuous quality improvements for Goodwills Family Strengthening programs and services.
  • Develops policies and procedures based on state and federal childcare services and childcare center regulations and laws.
  • Obtains and maintains regulatory standards regarding policies and procedures from the Texas health and Human Services Commission for Child Care Licensure.
  • Designs coordinates and communicates staffing schedules and assignments which provide adequate supervision of children effective teamwork and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintains accountability of inventory of supplies and materials essential to the operation of the program and follows proper procedures for new acquisitions and purchases.
  • Follows proper accounting procedures for receiving and posting payments preparing deposits and other financial transactions and ensures that records are submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Markets programs and recruits potential enrollees through community networking involvement with local agencies parents and other service providers involved in early care and education.
  • Provides appropriate instruction guidance and feedback to staff regarding classroom schedules procedures behavior management curriculum and parent communications to ensure quality programming consistent with Goodwill mission philosophy policies and standards.
  • Plans develops and coordinates yearly program calendar to reflect a variety of enriching educational and extracurricular activities for children families and staff.
  • Maintains effective communications with staff parents and service providers through use of conferences emails newsletters memos etc.
  • Stays current on issues pertaining to family strengthening early care child development and special education by participating in on-going training and professional development opportunities including seminars conferences in-house training and through personal research.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • Recruits interviews hires and trains staff.
  • Responsible for developing mentoring and coaching direct reports in the areas of programs strategy management and compliance.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must pass a drug screen. A criminal background check is required. A drivers license check is required. Must show proof of current drivers license and minimum auto liability insurance coverage.

Minimum Skills:

  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of early childhood development family development early intervention theories and practices.
  • Must maintain minimum requirements for personnel standards as determined by the Texas Health and Human Services for licensed childcare providers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to identify potential hazards and implement control measures to reduce risk and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain working relationships within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and personalities both internally (employees and staff) and externally (the media businesses community partners etc.)

Education and/or Experience Technical Skills:

Masters degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred. Minimum of five (10) years experience working in childcare setting. At least two (5) years of facility and staff management experience in a childcare or education setting preferred.

Certificates Licenses Registrations:

State of Texas Childcare Director Credential strongly preferred. Must maintain a valid drivers license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwills liability insurance provider.
